Have you ever broken a bone? If not, what's the worst injury you've sustained?
Hahahahahaha!
Oooch, my sides hurt from laughing too hard.
I've got a bone disease. I had my bones broken for me. By people who spent a lot of time in medical school, and charged a lot of money to do it. But I've got some killer scars. ;)
What questionS do you hate being asked?
How tall are you?
Why is your son an only child? (But I guess that's better than people assuming they know the reason why.)
Can you get this (gunderson waves arms in air to indicate VERY LARGE PROJECTS) done by Friday?
What is a childhood memory that still haunts you?
I don't think dredging up the skeletons in my childhood closet are something I would post on vox.
But speaking of haunting childhood memories, I just watched The Orphanage last night. It was really good.
It's a spanish film directed by the guy who did Pan's Labyrinth, about this woman who buys the orphanage that she grew up in, and then her own child goes missing. You think it's going to turn into a horror film, but it doesn't. Suspensful yes, horror, no.
The trailer:
What's the hardest part about the role you play in your family?
The black sheep/only single parent in the family?
Oh please, are you serious?????
Has anything unlucky happened to you today?
Ha! I was born on this day. So Friday the 13th is lucky, in my opinion.
The rest of the world has it backwards. Completely.
What are the goofy nicknames you have for your pet? Bonus points for sharing a picture of him/her.

How are you spending this Memorial Day? How will it differ from Memorial Days past?
I used to go to the Sasquatch Festival, over at The Gorge in George, Washington (yes, there really is a town called George here) but didn't feel like it this year. It's super-hyped/promoted nowadays and part of the appeal was that it was a little-known event where some big names came and the crowd was cool. I guess I'm a snob now, and that's okay with me. I saved cash and gas, so I'm well on my way to saving the world.
Yesterday we could have gone and done something, which I wanted to because I'm feeling better. But my kid said his band was coming over to practice at 1pm. They didn't show up til 6, so I was a bit pissed (so was my kid)... we waited around all day and could have gone and done something instead. I feel like the day was wasted. I told them all to work out their times better and to respect the fact that their practices affect adults too. (I have to stick around... I'm not about to let 5 teenagers alone in my place for huge chunks of time.) Then they spent the night and were a bit too loud. I told them to keep it down at 2am, and they did, but I should have told them sooner.
So today, I'm kicking out the kids by noon and my kid and I are headed to foothills of the Cascades to do some light hiking* up at Wallace Falls, which is close to me. It won't kill him. Hopefully it's not too muddy. Pepper tends to get stuck in mud.
* What I used to call going for a walk, is now considered hiking if you are doing it on a dirt trail in places like the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. So hike we will, even though we will just be walking around on a dirt trail, in the woods, following a waterfall. Per The Mountaineers, I will bring my Ten Essentials: things like matches, a compass, some extra food and water, etc. Sounds a bit lame for a simple walk in the woods/mountains, but I cannot tell you how many times the news around here tells about someone getting lost while on a 'simple walk in the woods/mountains'. Going for a walk used to be so easy.
What do you do EVERY day to take care of the earth's environment? What could you do more of?
• recycle
• use/buy less stuff in the first place
• freecycle
• telecommute
• combine errands to save gas
• buy organic and local when I can
• pick up garbage if I see it, even if it's not mine
• use low-energy lighting
I could do more:
• buying of local foods
• clean with earth friendly chemicals
• use less water
• move investments to funds that include companies/industries that support the environment or at least don't destroy it
What happened the first time you were left home alone as a child?

I was 6, my brother was 8. I played the role of Little Sister with finesse, which means I did everything in my power to drive my brother nuts. So, my brother beat the crap out of me. And I tore apart his pajamas and scratched him up pretty good.
But at least we didn't tell on each other. We weren't stupid. ;)
(Let me point out that I never left my kid alone at 6. Or 8. But it's a different world these days.)
