What are the goofy nicknames you have for your pet? Bonus points for sharing a picture of him/her.

And GODDAMNITMOVE!
just kidding. sort of.
I am very close to making a decision: do my laundry? Or just go buy some new underwear?
Sigh. Life is just too much sometimes, I can hardly bear it.
How are you spending this Memorial Day? How will it differ from Memorial Days past?
I used to go to the Sasquatch Festival, over at The Gorge in George, Washington (yes, there really is a town called George here) but didn't feel like it this year. It's super-hyped/promoted nowadays and part of the appeal was that it was a little-known event where some big names came and the crowd was cool. I guess I'm a snob now, and that's okay with me. I saved cash and gas, so I'm well on my way to saving the world.
Yesterday we could have gone and done something, which I wanted to because I'm feeling better. But my kid said his band was coming over to practice at 1pm. They didn't show up til 6, so I was a bit pissed (so was my kid)... we waited around all day and could have gone and done something instead. I feel like the day was wasted. I told them all to work out their times better and to respect the fact that their practices affect adults too. (I have to stick around... I'm not about to let 5 teenagers alone in my place for huge chunks of time.) Then they spent the night and were a bit too loud. I told them to keep it down at 2am, and they did, but I should have told them sooner.
So today, I'm kicking out the kids by noon and my kid and I are headed to foothills of the Cascades to do some light hiking* up at Wallace Falls, which is close to me. It won't kill him. Hopefully it's not too muddy. Pepper tends to get stuck in mud.
* What I used to call going for a walk, is now considered hiking if you are doing it on a dirt trail in places like the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. So hike we will, even though we will just be walking around on a dirt trail, in the woods, following a waterfall. Per The Mountaineers, I will bring my Ten Essentials: things like matches, a compass, some extra food and water, etc. Sounds a bit lame for a simple walk in the woods/mountains, but I cannot tell you how many times the news around here tells about someone getting lost while on a 'simple walk in the woods/mountains'. Going for a walk used to be so easy.
We watched Gone With the Wind yesterday. Why did no one tell me that it's OVER FIVE HOURS LONG? It was good though. Romance aside: It gave me an inkling of why the south is so different than the rest of the country, even today.
Gonna go out in the friend's boat today. Maybe. I'm not feeling so hot, so we'll see.
Have a good holiday weekend!
What category do artichokes fall under? Veggies?
Yep. It's a bit of a feel good, I'm-okay-you're-okay, kind of book. A few kernels of obvious wisdom, so it wasn't a waste of time. I think this would be a good book for someone in their teens/young adult period of life. None of it's new to me, but I guess it's good to be reminded of how we have the ability to change how we perceive things, and therefore change the outcome. Anything is possible, depending on how you look at it. The main points I liked...
1. Lighten up. Don't take yourself so seriously.
2. It's all a game, and it's all in your head. You make up the rules and where you stand in this world.
Not the best book I've ever read, but like I said... it'd be a good read for someone younger.
My next book for my 100 pages a week project ....
After living through the coldest wettest April on record in 100 years, and a week of damp, wet, foggy weather, it's going to be 84 and sunny here in the outer rim of Seattle.
Enjoy your Friday. I'll be waiting for what I hope to be a beautiful sunset.

"But we have to wait..."
"What for?"
"For the sun to set."
At first you seemed quite surprised, and then you laughed at yourself. And you said to me, "I think I'm still at home!"
Indeed. When it's noon in the United States, the sun, as everyone knows, is setting over France. If you could fly to France in one minute, you could watch the sunset. Unfortunately, France is much too far. But on your tiny planet, all you had to do was move your chair a few feet. And you would watch the twilight whenever you wanted to...
"One day I saw the sun set forty-four times!"
And a little later you added, "You know, when you're feeling very sad, sunsets are wonderful..."
"On the day of forty-four times, were you feeling very sad?"
But the little prince didn't answer.
I won't be posting much for a while. Just so ya know: No one's died, no one's having a midlife crisis. I'm here, but not. There are things going on that I've not told anyone about, so we shall see. I'll try to stop in occasionally, I promise.
Feel free to PM me if you want to touch base (but if it's just to find out what's going on, please refrain), or please send me a post if ya wants me to read it, because I will. Always glad to read mah friends.
If I wanted people to know, I'd post about it. I'm both an attention whore and incredibly private. I am my own contradiction.
I'll be back to the regular stuff soonish. Or maybe not. Dunno. I'll definitely try though. Be good peoples.
Ciao! :)
