There Will Be Blood: I will drink your milkshake! Anyone have a straw?
I finally saw this movie tonight and I liked it way better than No Country For Old Men. Hell... I think I liked Harold and Kumar blah blah White Castle more than I liked NCFOM. But still... I think this is going to be one of my all time faves. I think I'm gonna have to buy it now.
Anyway... it was awesome on so many levels. The foreshadowing formulas were a bit too obvious – almost distracting, but beautifully filmed.
Cool fact: Movie started in 1898, the year my grandfather was born. That little baby, H.W. Plainview, could have been my gramps. Just awesome all around. loved it.
I'm finished now! ;)

Let's see... There is some violence, but on the violence spectrum of current movies, on a scale of 1 to 10, I'll put this at a 3 or 4. And it wasn't glorified. I wouldn't call it a violent movie. No violence against women or children. There are hardly any in the movie anyway. ;) NCFOM was at a 9 or 10 in my book. The Departed... 9.
If you have a movie you consider violent for me to compare it to, that might help. My concept of violence may be different than yours.
Oh, then I was totally off base. I was thinking of NCFOM and The Departed as too graphic for me.
I can deal with realistic violence like an accident. Or a fist fight if it isn't extended. Torture scenes set me on edge. I can take guns--shooting. I'm trying to think of a violent movie to compare it too but the truth is, I don't see very many with hardcore violence. The truth also is that I have a terrible memory.
Thanks for explaining. It helps!
Well, I personally would not recommend you not see this movie, based on the fact that you have something in your past. I don't want to give away too much, but there is a violent act at the end and from what you've said, I don't think you'll want to see it.
