QotD: Time on Your Hands
What do you do when you find yourself with nothing to do?

I think it's kind of funny that most of the answers I've seen on the vox explore page, are people lamenting about their lack of time. Um... you have enough time to post on vox, don't you? And I dunno... that's really not on my list of priorities to get done during the day. Meaning, if I don't have time, I don't post. (OTOH, if I have too much time, I post accordingly).
Is that considered irony?
On a more serious note, people who complain about a lack of time have to realize that they have a lot of control over what goes on in their lives, as well as their response to it. If you are feeling too busy, then you need to prioritize. Life is not meant to be some exasperated struggle from one day to the next. If something is not important or necessary to you, then cut it out of your life. If everything is important and necessary, then maybe you aren't evaluating things in a way that is working for you.
The point is, we are in charge of more than we think. Which means, we are the ones to stop lamenting about the "busy"ness, and start doing what's important to us. Having 20 kids to take care of, is busy. There is no time. But it's important (I would think) to a parent, to take care of their 20 kids. And most likely, those kinds of people don't even know what vox is, nor have the time to care. People like that are legitimately "too busy." :) In the point I'm trying to make, I'm mainly referring to people who have the time to complain that they don't have time. Imagine using that time for something else? (yeah, can you believe one of the world's greatest whiners of all time is saying stop whining and do something? I know... I'm shocking myself too.)
I'm sure there are a bazillion folks who disagree and/or think I'm fulluvit, but I think a lot of that reaction is just a mental road block. I think it scares some of us to death having all that 'busy' time taken away, because then we are left with the unknown: Ourselves. It's much easier sometimes to just hurry on to the next thing.
there ya go. My 2 cents for free. :)

Excellent point about prioritizing and cutting out those things not a priority. I used to get really bogged down doing stuff for other people to the point of not doing my own stuff. It was a hard thing to learn to say no. Very difficult indeed.
Not driving has helped me to prioritize. Now that it actually takes me a while to go somewhere, I have to stop and think "Do I REALLY need to do that??", whereas before I would just get in my car and zip all over the place.
i totally agree, Bee
i always have something to do - but, i usually interpret that as "i'm never bored" - i could be sitting here daydreaming, staring at the ceiling - but i'm still doing something :)
