Go you!!! YAY! By my calculations, you only have to average 2/5 of a page per day, and you'll knock out your 100 pp by New Year's Eve. You can do it, hon! I have faith in you. A quote from the landmark film, "Tommy Boy":

Richard Hayden: It's called reading! Top to bottom, left to right... a group of words together is called a sentence. Take Tylenol for any headaches... Midol for any cramps.

(I kid because I love) ;-)
100 pages a week. Lookee you, getting all technical with me. :) NUMBERS IZ TOO HARD.

I'd like to do 100 pages a day but I have to try this out first. I read fast but 100 pages a day might be too much.
OHHHHHHH!! 100 pp a week! Now that's a little more challenging. (The maths is baddest for me, too)

I'm sort of a "professional" reader---I have to cover the texts my students read, so within the last two weeks I've read Montana 1948 and short stories by Stephen Crane and Jack London. They're good stories, but being forced to read leaves me with little appetite for reading for recreation.

I started Fools' Crow, a Native American novel, back in January. I think I'm at page 220 out of a 500-page novel. I don't think I'm going to be done by the time I have to return the book in mid-May. ;_;

Maybe when we get some leisure time over the summer (HA!) we can really read read, instead of this reading in itty bitty parts?

I was thinking about this very thing last night as I was pulling out a new book to start on. I try to read a little every night before I go to sleep, but there's no way I could crank out a book a week. Especially since I always seem to manage to pick really thick books. Don't even know how many I've read since the first of the year, but it's probably about half a dozen. I figure that's pretty good for a busy girl.

Your book looks interesting. When you finish, please let us know what you thought of it.

This is not in reference to you but I sometimes wonder when book reading turned into a competitive endeavour.

Is it Oprah's fault?

So far... it would make a better audiobook. They (it's a couple that wrote this) are so committed to their message that I think I need to hear it, not read ink.

Initially, I think they can say what they mean with far less words, which means I should read it for lyrical prose as well as meaning. Which also means I will have to re-read the first 20 pages. Or get the audiobook tomorrow. I dunno.

And I find Oprah annoying these days. I used to like her, long ago. Also, competitiveness doesn't work well for me. I lose sight of the forest for the trees.
Sounds like a doable goal, but doesn't that make it like work?! I'd hate to see you ruin the fun of reading for yourself.
